November 15 Indulging In the Word: An Elegant Evening of Art, Music, and Fine Dining

The evening begins at 6 pm with
exhibition viewing and a open bar cocktail reception on the Strauss Bridge featuring music by harpist
Kim Meyer (right). In the galleries,
Dr. Taylor J. Acosta, Joslyn's Associate Curator of European Art, will be on hand providing commentary on select pages of
The Saint John’s Bible. Doors open at 6 pm.
At 7:15 pm, guests will move to the beautiful Storz Fountain Court for an elegant dinner adorned with floral centerpieces inspired by a page from The Saint John’s Bible.
Menu highlights include a root vegetable salad with mixed greens and
maple vinaigrette for the first course, with shaved Brussel sprouts,
roasted sweet potatoes, and a chef's special croissant with honey
butter. The main course features Chicken Diane with Dijon cognac and
airline chicken breast, with roasted squash and broccolini with lemon
butter. For dessert, guests top the evening with silky vanilla crème
brûlée. Our vegetarian or vegan option is a delicious fall vegetable
stuffed portobello mushroom. For this option and any other dietary
restrictions, please email your preference.
Punctuating the fine dining experience will be a special concert by Omaha-based Rangbrook Ensemble (left) performing several spiritual refrains, including “Psalm 8” for soprano, viola and cello, “Draw the Sacred Circle Closer,” and “In Manus Tuas."
Founded in 2011, the Rangbrook Ensemble is a professional string chamber ensemble dedicated to the performance of classical music and music education for all ages. Their goals include creating a place for the ensemble as a cultural institution in Nebraska; increasing interest in and attendance at classical music concerts across all demographics; and generating sufficient support to attract and keep a core group of the region’s best professional string players.
