
A special four-part
lecture series celebrating Word and Image: The Saint John’s Bible. Presented by Creighton faculty, at Joslyn, on
select Sundays at 2 pm, Encountering The
Saint John’s Bible examines the composition and canonization of the Bible.
Programs are free with regular Museum admission.
Visitors wishing to view Word and Image: The Saint John's Bible must obtain a ticket at
the admissions desk for entrance to the exhibition ($10 general public adults; $5 college students with ID; free for Joslyn members and youth ages 17 and younger).
"Gospel Portraiture and the Art of Interpretation”
Presented by Dr. Susan Calef
This talk will present an exploration of the distinctive features of each of the four Gospel “portraits” of Jesus and their contributions to Christian spirituality. The presentation will include select art works expressive of each portrait’s emphasis.

As a New Testament scholar and Director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Creighton,
SUSAN CALEF teaches courses on women and gender in biblical traditions, feminist and womanist interpretation of biblical texts, sickness and healing in the Bible, and the Gospels as sources of spirituality. She is currently writing a book on biblical spirituality entitled
Questing God: Gospel Questions as Spiritual Guides.
