Contemporary Art Society (CAS) members are invited to a public lecture featuring Riley CAP Gallery artist Paul Anthony Smith. He creates “picotages,” altered photographs that study the African and Caribbean diasporas. A native of Jamaica, Smith mines the hybrid identity that often accompanies migration, while exploring the fraught intersections of place, memory, and dislocation.. His exhibition in Joslyn's Riley CAP gallery opens October 5 and continues through January 19.
The lecture, free and open to the public, will begin at 6:30 pm, followed by a private cocktail reception and dinner for CAS members with the artist as special guest. Formal invitations will be mailed to CAS members. Contact Janel Sunderland at
jsunderland@joslyn.org for more information about joining CAS.
