February 17 Poetry Out Loud
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

A Poetry Out Loud Regional Workshop will be held in the Abbott Lecture Hall Saturday, February 17 from 2:00–3:30 pm. The public is welcome to attend this free event, which will showcase students reciting poetry, followed by commentary from performance evaluators.

Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation.  The Nebraska Arts Council coordinates POL for our state, and is partnering with Nebraskans for the Arts for this event, which will feature students who’ve won their school competition. The top student contestant from each participating high school will advance to state finals in Lincoln during March. Ultimately, the student who wins the Nebraska state championship will participate in a national competition to be held in Washington, D.C. during late April.
