February 15 Poetry Out Loud
The public is invited to attend Poetry Out Loud (POL), a free event in
Joslyn's Abbott Lecture Hall. High school students who have won their
schools' competitions will appear at thei regional competition, reciting
poetry before audience members and a panel of judges.
POL is a national art education program sponsored by the National
Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation. The Nebraska Arts
Council coordinates POL for our state, and is partnering with Nebraskans
for the Arts for this event. Top students from each of the three
regional competitions will advance to the state finals in Lincoln in
March. The Nebraska state championship winner will participate in a
national competition in Washington, D.C. in late April.
