Tuesday, August 26th marks the first day of Fall programs. Fifty teens from over 25 high schools fill our interdisciplinary art studio this week and begin to mesh. One of the first things we do during this orientation week is write letters to ourselves. These letters are saved in a time capsule and returned to the author at the end of the semester. This small task is an analogy for our students’ time at KBMP in that much of their artistic accomplishment in our program is a reflection of their own ambition and inputs. Often times the only obstacle to your work is yourself. It is also pretty great returning the letters and seeing everyone’s reactions to what they wrote. Check out www.futureme.org for more info.
