What do art and bikes have in common? Why Joslyn’s mural ride of course!
Joslyn recently kicked off a bike ride event in partnership with the Community Bike Project that surveyed a series of murals produced by teens at Joslyn’s Kent Bellows Mentoring Program along the Keystone Trail. The total bike ride is about fifteen miles stretching from Karen Park to Democracy Park and back again and passes eight murals. The majority of the murals on the trail were created entirely with spray paint while a few also included hand painted elements. Each mural tells a different story but together they help bring more awareness to teen voices and the creative potential of spray paint as a medium.
In the future we hope to create more mural rides that branch out into other areas of the city. Murals are on the rise in Omaha and I don’t think this trend will stop any time soon. You can keep up to date with Joslyn’s Kent Bellows Mentoring Program murals at our mural program page.
