Soñadora: Yuyi Morales

A native of Xalapa, Mexico, Yuyi Morales is an award-winning author and illustrator of children’s picture books. From her first trickster tale, Just a Minute, to the more recent Dreamers, Morales’ own immigration story and tribute to the transformative power of hope and reading—all are shaped by her rich heritage. This exhibition features over sixty paintings and digital prints capturing the artist’s handmade puppets and “sets” for fourteen stories, among them Harvesting Hope: The Story of César Chávez, Ladder to the Moon, and Viva Frida.

Organized by National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature (Abilene, TX).

Saturday, April 9; 10 am–1 pm

This project is supported in part by Cynthia Epstein and David Wiesman and the National Endowment for the Arts.
