Melissa Sweet has illustrated over 100 books and has written four,
including her latest, Some Writer! The Story of E.B. White, a biography
of the author of Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little. In this picture
book, the Sibert medalist and Caldecott Honor winner uses White’s
letters, photos, and
manuscripts—along
with her colorful
collaged art—to
convey the true story
of one of the most
beloved authors of our
time. In addition to
original art for Some Writer!, the exhibition includes illustrations for these biographies and
other titles: A River of Words: The Story of William Carlos Williams, A Splash of Red: The Life of
Horace Pippin, and The Right Word: Roget and His Thesaurus. Visit the Mind’s Eye Gallery to
see nearly fifty of Sweet’s whimsical watercolor, collage, and mixed media illustrations for ten
children’s books.
