Presented six times per year, these FREE events will entertain and engage families with hands-on activities, performances, and demonstrations that complement Joslyn's exhibitions. Depending on the theme, you could hear a storyteller, see dancers in motion, listen to live music - or try those things yourself! And there will always be a chance to explore the galleries and create art of your own. All ages are welcome.
Saturdays, 10 am-noon:
February 11 - Zen Tales: The Art of Jon J Muth
Celebrate an exhibition of art by author-illustrator Jon J Muth. Learn to use Asian brushes to paint Chinese characters with Museum teacher Therese Straseski. Your art-making will be inspired by drawings of Stillwater, a giant panda at the center of Muth’s Zen stories. Join us for a re-telling of Muth’s Stone Soup by actor and storyteller Kim Clark-Kaczmarek. Participants will help make "stone soup,” then enjoy a taste of what they created.
April 8 - Wild Spaces, Open Seasons *
* KickstART Saturday activities are free. General public adults receive $5 discounted tickets to the exhibition on this day.
KickstART Saturday is sponsored by Joslyn Art Museum Association.
