Programs for Kids @ Joslyn

We aim for kid-friendly!
Besides special programs and events, Joslyn provides children and families with tools to engage in independent art exploration and hands-on learning. When you're at the Museum, visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity to enjoy nine hands-on activity stations with connections to art in the galleries, or stop by the Scott EdTech Gallery to pick-up a printed gallery guide, check-out an Art Pack, explore art using an iPad, and more!

Stroller Tours

Joslyn offers docent-guided tours designed for moms, dads, and caregivers to look at and talk about art with other adults, while being mindful of young ones in arms and strollers. Gather in Joslyn's Conagra Brands Atrium on Wednesdays at 9:30 am for complimentary pastries and refreshments. Then head to the galleries for 10 am tours that will keep you up-to-date on Joslyn's permanent collection and exciting special exhibitions. Tandem strollers and crying babies welcome!

November 3 Block Party!
11 am-1 pm

Drop in to contribute to the Omaha Modern Quilt Guild's "improv quilt." Participants of all ages may design and sew a quilt square from fabric scraps. Guild members will combine the squares to form a finished quilt for display in January. Also, add a piece to Joslyn's collaborative cardboard quilt fort. We want many hands represented in this exhibition-related community project! Create a pattern, write a note, or share a memory on a cardboard diamond. We'll piece the diamonds together throughout the fall, with a final quilt fort installation scheduled for Joslyn's community gallery in January.

Additional Block Parties December 1 and January 5

Free event. Stop by!

Family Scavenger Hunts

Stop by the EdTech Gallery to pick up a scavenger hunt, then let the gallery adventure begin! Try Summertime or Emoji and others. Click here for details.

Do you have kids who snicker at art with nudes and you don't know what to say? Try Undressing the Nudes for a brief exploration of the nude in art and an explanation of why the figure is an important symbolic and technical tool for artists.
