Join Adjunct Curator of Antiquities, Erin Walcek Averett for a closer look the special exhibition Poseidon and the Sea: Myth, Cult, and Daily Life. Come early—cash bar opens at 5 pm; gallery tour begins in gallery 11 at 6:30 pm.

Poseidon and the Sea is a ticketed exhibition. Visitors to this program will be required to obtain a ticket Admissions Desk. Joslyn Members, Creighton University students and faculty with ID, and all other college students with ID may receive a free exhibition ticket.  Adult general public will be required to purchase a ticket at the Museum admissions desk for $5 (special Thursday evening price).


ERIN WALCEK AVERETT
is Assistant Professor of Archaeology in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Creighton University. She also serves as the Assistant Director of the Athienou Archaeological Project on Cyprus, funded by the National Science Foundation, and is President of the Omaha-Lincoln chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America. Dr. Averett graduated with a BA in Latin and Classical Archaeology from the University of Georgia in 1998 and earned her Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology at the University of Missouri-Columbia.




In this 45-minute gallery tour Dr. Averett will discuss the significance of the exhibition and consider key objects in the show.
