Shawnee Mountain Pottery in the Colorado mountains was founded in 1981 by Vincent and Carolyn Lee Tolpo who make all of the pottery. Each piece is wheel-thrown or hand-built and fired to 2290° F which makes the clay extremely hard and durable, thus it is called stoneware.
