Joslyn Art Museum Draws High School Students In with
Fun, Educational Saturday Night of
Art Instruction
Omaha,
NE – Saturday, March 20, 6:00-11:30 pm.
High School Students! Experience Joslyn Art Museum like you never have before. Forget what
you know about Joslyn from your field trip tours through the
galleries...Draw-a-Thon is an electric night of creativity and fun.
Draw-a-Thon is a FREE event for all area high
school students. This event celebrates drawing as an essential art
skill. This does not mean that all artists must have great drawing
ability, but it is important for artists to know how to use drawing
tools and techniques to aide them in the creative process, be it in
paint, clay, stone, or macaroni.
No “drawing ability” is required to be a part
of Draw-a-Thon, only enthusiasm and a creative drive. Participants
will move in small groups through the Museum’s galleries and unique
spaces to complete a variety of drawing workshops presented by
actual working artists from Omaha and the surrounding areas.
Periodically throughout the evening all
Draw-a-Thon participants and artist-instructors will gather together
in the Storz Fountain Court, turn up the music, and collaborate on a
large scale mural drawing to be hung in the Museum’s Riley Education
Gallery.
The event will end with a chance for
participants to display their work while they enjoy pizza and pop
and get to know the new art-minded friends made during the night’s
festivities.
Draw-a-Thon is presented as a free event thanks
to support from the Joslyn Art Museum Association and Dick Blick Art
Materials.

Draw-a-Thon is free for high school-aged youth. Advance registration is required; call Joslyn’s studio teaching
specialist at (402) 661-3839 or by clicking on the link above or below.
Draw-a-Thon is sponsored by the Joslyn Art Museum
