What’s on my desk? Besides too many piles of paper, there are a few small objects I’ve picked up along the way. This little box has been with me a long time.
Years ago, a kind Museum volunteer, Ron Perkins would come to Joslyn every Friday and offer his services in the library. He’d pore through periodicals and clip articles to add to the “artist files.” Occasionally, he’d wheel his chair through the Museum’s classrooms, through a skinny crowded hallway that doubled as an art supply storage area, and into my office. It was no easy feat. But he liked to say hello and visit for a few minutes. He loved Joslyn and he enjoyed helping in the library. He enjoyed folding paper, too – and was quite good at it. One day he brought me that pretty little box that he’d folded from magazine pages. I love that box. Ron’s obituary is now tucked inside of it.
