Midlands Invitational 1997 was the third exhibition organized by Joslyn Art Museum to higlight the work of selected artists from across Nebraska and its six contiguous states: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota, and Wyoming. The theme for 1997 was photography and the artists were chosen by Director John E. Schloder and co-curator Jane Farber after viewing 900 slides and visiting over 90 aritsts. This exhibition and catalogue was the result.
