Elegance of the Qing Court

Special exhibition Elegance of the Qing Court: A Reflection of a Dynasty Through Its Art (March 1 - June 8) has inspired a variety of events and programs at Joslyn Art Museum. Adult programs exploring aspects of the Qing Dynasty and Chinese history and culture are planned. Click the links to learn more.

  • Saturday, March 8, 10:30 am; Independent scholar Judith Rutherford presents "Symbolism, Rank & Status: Chinese Textiles in the Qing Dynasty."
  • Saturday, April 26, 1 pm; Tai Chi Master Frank Fong presents "Quietness in Motion," a lecture and workshop (practical demonstration and audience participation) in honor of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day.
  • Thursday, May 8, 6:30 pm; Marsha Haufler, Ph.D., professor, history of art, University of Kansas leads the largest graduate program in Chinese art history in the U.S. She will present a lecture on Qing court taste, especially as it influenced and was influenced by European art.
