Joslyn Giving Back

OPS Partnership

Joslyn Art Museum continues to seek ways in which to remove barriers for students and school programs to make access to our collections possible. Beginning in the fall of 2005, Joslyn Art Museum's Board of Governors approved a policy to waive the admission fees for student groups from Omaha Public Schools (OPS) to attend the Museum. Correspondingly, the numbers of OPS students having a first-person experience at the Museum dramatically increased during the 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 school years. Joslyn Art Museum is proud to serve school children through this initiative and continues to seek ways to expand the benefits to greater numbers of children in the metro area. Joslyn Art Museum partners with the Peter Kiewit Foundation to offer Free Saturday Mornings

Joslyn Art Museum recently received a major grant from the Peter Kiewit Foundation to renew its sponsorship of free admission for the general public between the hours of 10 and noon on Saturday mornings. This grant award will ensure the continuation of the program through 2008. The foundation had previously made a five-year gift to the Museum to open the doors every Saturday.

In addition to viewing special exhibitions and works from the permanent collection, museum visitors during Free Saturday Mornings may also enjoy other programming and services including the Scott Ed Tech Gallery. Free guided tours are generally available on Saturday at 11:00 AM. The Museum is grateful for the leadership exhibited by the Peter Kiewit Foundation to ensure Free Saturday Mornings will continue into the future.
